There are two things to consider with regards to the width of Archies Thongs:
- The actual width of the thong.
- The strap tightness.
In relation to the width of the thongs:
At this stage, we do not make thong’s that are of a different width.
The width that we talk about on the website simply refers to whether or not you have a wide, narrow or normal width foot so that we can stretch the strap to adjust the tightness to suit your foot width. However, we do not make thong’s that are of a different width.
In terms of width, Archies Thongs are designed to be a reasonably narrow fitting thong. The outside edge of the foot hangs over the edge to some extent in most people, so please do not be concerned if this is the case for you, as this is the normal fit for Archies Thongs (Please see the below image). It is important to note, that while the foot overhangs to some extent in most people, it is quite rare that we cannot fit Archies Thongs to someone’s feet, no matter how wide or narrow they are. Even in the case that you have a bunion that overhangs, this is ok, the most important thing is that the thong is comfortable and the orthotic sits in the correct position on the foot.
Please see the image below of completely acceptable overhang.
The tightness of the strap:
Archies Thongs are designed with a tighter strap than normal thongs. This can lead to the perception that the thongs are too narrow when it is simply the strap being too tight for your foot width. The good news is, while a tight strap is important for normal foot function, if the strap feels too tight, it is very, very easy to instantly fix this problem by stretching the strap until it reaches your desired level of tightness!
